Dr Ravi Khetarpal is the Executive Secretary of Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions based at Bangkok, Thailand since 2017. He was the Regional Advisor on Strategic Science Partnerships with CABI South Asia (India) where he worked as Regional Director for from 2010 – 2017. He deals with science and policy-based projects on research, development and knowledge management. He has served National Agricultural System in India for three decades. He holds PhD in Life Sciences (Virology) from University of Paris, France and was a visiting Scientist in an EU Collaborative project for three years. His areas of interest include research, development, policy issues and capacity building in the field of biosecurity, biosafety, social sciences, higher agricultural education system and agricultural innovations. He has worked as Consultant of twelve FAO/World Bank Projects notably in Indonesia, India, Nepal, Mauritius and Cambodia. He also served as a Developing Country SPS Expert (from Asia) in STDF/WTO Committee He has to his credit 114 research papers, 19 Books (including Plant Virus Disease Control from APS Press, USA), 56 Book Chapters, 12 Review Articles and 3 policy papers. He is the Founder President of Crop Protection Federation in India and has served in various capacities in professional societies of agriculture and environment.
